Size chart hiking packs

Tramping and hiking packs are sized by torso length, not chest or height. Some models come in back sizes; others (including Aarn Pace Magic packs) are one-size with an adjustable harness that covers most torso lengths.

How to measure your torso

  1. Tilt your head forward and find the bony bump at the base of your neck (the C7 vertebra).
  2. Place your hands on your hip bones, thumbs pointing to your spine; the point between your thumbs is the top of your hip belt line (iliac crest).
  3. Have someone measure straight down your spine from the C7 bump to that hip line. That distance in centimetres is your torso length.

Then check the size or adjustment range on the specific product page; each brand publishes its own bands, and we list them per product where the manufacturer supplies them.

The honest advice: a loaded pack fits differently to an empty one. If you can, come into the Taupō showroom and we'll fit it with weight in it (free, about 20 minutes).
