The FYP sock height standard

Brands name heights differently. An Injinji “Mini-Crew” and a Feetures “Mini Crew” sit about 7 cm apart on your leg. So we measure every sock against one FYP ladder and always show the brand's own name beside it.

  1. No Show

Hidden below the shoe collar; a heel tab may sit above it to protect the Achilles · Below the ankle bone

Brand terms here: Injinji No-Show · Feetures No Show Tab · Injinji PED

  2. Ankle

Just clears the shoe collar and partially covers the ankle bone · At the ankle bone

Brand terms here: Feetures Low Cut · Pointe Studio ankle & full-foot styles

  3. Quarter

Fully clears the ankle bone, sitting low on the shin · ≈5–8 cm cuff. Feetures states a 2" cuff; Injinji describes full ankle coverage

Brand terms here: Feetures Quarter · Injinji Mini-Crew

  4. Mini Crew

Lower calf: clearly above the ankle, below mid-calf · ≈12–13 cm cuff. Feetures states a 5" cuff

Brand terms here: Feetures Mini Crew

  5. Crew

Mid-calf: seals out trail grit, scrub and boot collars · ≈15–20 cm; both brands describe mid-calf

Brand terms here: Injinji Crew · Feetures Crew (Merino 10)

  6. Over the Calf

Over the calf muscle, finishing just below the knee · Full lower-leg coverage

Brand terms here: Injinji Over-the-Calf & Compression

Cuff positions are from official supplier documentation; centimetre measurements marked “≈” await physical verification in the showroom. We never rename a product. The brand's own term always stays visible.

Good to know

Why does an Injinji Mini-Crew match a Feetures Quarter?

Brands name heights independently. Injinji's Mini-Crew gives full ankle coverage — physically the same zone as Feetures' 2" Quarter cuff. Feetures' own Mini Crew is a 5" cuff that sits noticeably higher on the calf. Our FYP height standard measures every sock on one ladder and always shows the brand's own name beside it, so you can compare across brands without learning each naming system.

Do toe socks actually prevent blisters?

They remove one specific cause: skin-on-skin rubbing between your toes. Each toe sits in its own wicking sleeve, so that friction point is gone and skin stays drier. Traditional anatomical socks attack friction differently — seam-free toes, a secure arch fit and moisture control. Neither is a guarantee: the right pick depends on where you blister. If your toes rub together, toe socks are the direct fix.

What do the FYP cushion levels mean?

One scale across every brand: Liner (barely-there base layer), Ultra-light (race-day feel), Light (everyday running weight), Midweight (noticeable padding for trail and hiking) and Max (the plushest we stock). The brand's own wording — like Injinji's 'Original Weight' — stays visible in the table.

Which height should I choose for trail running?

Crew is the trail default — it seals out grit, dust and scrub and works under gaiters. Quarter is fine on smooth trails; Over the Calf earns its keep in deep winter or scratchy off-track country. On road it's almost entirely personal preference.

Can I compare men's and women's socks?

Yes — the tool flags when a comparison mixes men's and women's versions, because sizing and fit differ even where the specs match. Most Injinji and Feetures styles come in both.
